Fox River Rush Captures 2011 Fall 15U Player's Choice Indoor League Championship

The Fox River Rush U14 girls softball team captured the Player's Choice indoor league championship with a 3-0 shutout of the Green Bay Preble Hornet's on Sunday December 18, 2011.

In order to play in the championship game the Rush had to fend off Base Knox 3-2 in extra innings.

Fox River Rush finished the season 8-0, outscoring their opponents 51-16.

Fox River Rush opened the season with a 8-4 victory over the Lakeshore rise. Games two and three were lopsided 17-3 and 8-3 victories against Green Bay Extreme and the Player's Choice Puma's.

Games four and five were hard fought 2-1 and 2-0 victories against Base Knox and the Green Preble Hornet's.

The sixth game of the season landed the Rush a 8-3 victory over Chilton.

U14 Fox River Rush Finishes 7th At NSA North Region World Series

The Fox River Rush U14 girls softball team placed seventh out of 76 squads at the National Softball Association Class B North Region World Series held July 26-30 in Fishers, Ind.  Fox River Rush won six of its nine tournament games, including three of four contests on the fourth day of competition.

Fox River Rush (32-15) split its two pool contests by winning a 7-4 decision over the Oaklandon Red Storm (Ind.) and losing a 4-3 result to the Tinley Park Rockers (Ill.).

Fox River Rush opened play in the double-elimination tournament with wins of 7-3 over the Lincoln-Way Blue Wave  (Ill.) and 5-4 over CG Explosion 97 (Ind.).

Following a 9-1 loss to the Indiana Raiders, Fox River Rush then rattled off wins of 6-1 over Casey Chaos (Ill.), 11-0 over the Indiana Warriors and 9-8 over Palos Rippit (Ill.).  Fox River Rush was ousted from the tournament with a 4-1 loss to the MBS Jets (Mich.).

Mira Wallace and Megan Schweitzer led Fox River Rush at the plate by hitting .538 (7-13) and .455 (5-11), respectively.

Fox River Rush also had Kennedy Taylor hit .440 (11-25) with three doubles, Erin Powers .409 (9-22) with four runs batted in, Kaylee Francois .409 (9-22) with seven runs batted in, Amber Van Duyse .375 (9-24) with two doubles and five runs batted in and Jennifer Timm .348 (8-23) with two doubles, two home runs and six runs batted in.

On the pitching mound, Van Duyse compiled a 4-2 record with a 2.60 earned run average and Powers a 2-1 record with a 1.20 earned run average.  Powers earned a save in the team’s win over CG Explosion 97.

U12 Fox River Rush Takes Second Place At ASA Northern National Tournament

Kaylen Krueger hit .581 (18-31) with two triples, three home runs and 16 runs batted in as the Fox River Rush U12 girls softball team finished second at the Amateur Softball Association of America Class B Northern National Tournament held Aug. 4-7 in Kimberly.

Fox River Rush (50-14) won six of its nine tournament games, including five in succession to advance to the championship round of the 33-team event. Fox River Rush hit .365 (89-244) for the tournament and averaged nearly 11 runs and 10 hits per contest. Opponents hit .231 (46-199) off Fox River Rush pitching and were held to an average of just five runs and six hits per game.

Fox River Rush split its two pool contests as it posted a 13-0 victory over Sauganash Storm Black (Ill.) and suffered a 10-2 loss to the St. Louis Fusion (Mo.).

Fox River Rush began its journey in the double-elimination tournament with a 32-1 triumph over the Dickinson Diamonds (N.D.). The contest featured Fox River Rush totaling 23 hits and scoring 15 runs in both the first and second innings.

Fox River Rush then tallied wins of 9-1 over the Tinley Park Bobcats (Ill.), 10-3 over the Lisle Slammers (Ill.), 9-1 over Kimberly and 10-2 over the St. Louis Fusion.

In the championship round, St. Louis Fusion captured the tournament title with wins of 7-3 and 15-7 over Fox River Rush.

In addition to Krueger, Fox River Rush had Kennedy Taylor hit .485 (16-33) with one triple and 11 runs batted in, Erin Powers .450 (9-20) with two doubles and five runs batted in, Amber Van Duyse .375 (9-24) with three runs batted in and Sage Tanck .370 (10-27) with two doubles and nine runs batted in. Jennifer Timm contributed three doubles and 10 runs batted in.

Van Duyse pitched 31.2 innings for Fox River Rush, compiling a 3-3 record with 27 strikeouts and a 1.55 earned run average. Erin Powers hurled 15 innings, marking a 3-0 record with 19 strikeouts and a 3.27 earned run average. Powers tossed a one-hit, four-inning shutout against Sauganash Storm Black.

Fox River Rush won seven of its 10 tournament games, including all five on the fourth day of competition. Fox River Rush (44-11) split its two pool contests, losing a 3-2 decision to Edge Chaos Navy (Ill.) before posting a 10-4 win over the Missouri Angels. The setback to Edge Chaos Navy snapped an 11-game winning streak for Fox River Rush.

Fox River Rush opened play in the double-elimination tournament with an 8-0 victory over Wild Fastpitch Black (Mich.) and an 8-7 loss to eventual fifth-place finisher Tinley Park Rockers Gold (Ill.).

Fox River Rush then reeled off victories of 11-3 over Patriots (Mo.), 3-2 over Indiana Mayhem, 9-1 over Indiana Lightning, 3-0 over Dyer Fire (Ill.) and 4-2 over MBS Jets Black (Mich.) before suffering a 5-2 loss to eventual fourth-place finisher Team Oak Stars (Ill.).

Kaylen Krueger led Fox River Rush at the plate by hitting .400 (14-35) with three doubles and seven runs batted in. Krueger hit safely in all 10 contests to extend her hitting streak to 18 consecutive games.

Fox River Rush also had Sage Tanck hit .364 (8-22) with two doubles and three runs batted in, Jennifer Timm .296 (8-27) with three doubles and seven runs batted in and Tia Danforth .292 (7-24) with two doubles and five runs batted in.

On the pitching mound, Amber Van Duyse compiled a 4-0 record and a 0.46 earned run average, while Erin Powers tallied a 2-1 record with two saves and a 1.94 earned run average. Van Duyse hurled a four-hit shutout against Dyer Fire, while combining with Powers to toss a three-hit shutout against Wild Fastpitch Black. Powers picked up saves against Indiana Mayhem and MBS Jets Black.

Timm, U12 Fox River Rush Honored At Opening Celebration Of NSA North Region World Series

Shortstop Jennifer Timm of the Fox River Rush U12 girls softball team was named Miss National Softball Association (NSA) for her age group at the NSA Class B North Region World Series held July 26-30 in East Peoria, Ill.

Timm, who was recognized for her athletic and academic achievements and civic involvement, was one of five players honored at the opening celebration of the 162-team tournament. Other award winners were Maggie Ballentine of the U8 Crown Point All Stars (Ind.), Mallory McMahon of the U10 Crown Point Bulldogs (Ind.), Maria Cook of the U14 Indy Crush (Ind.) and Danielle Lodge of the U16 Taser Fastpitch (Mich.). Each of the five teams owning a Miss NSA winner were also selected to represent their age group on the field during the opening celebration.

Timm completed the seventh grade at West De Pere Middle School in June with a 3.98 cumulative grade point average. She played the French horn in the school’s band while participating as a member of the school’s volleyball, basketball and track and field teams.

During the past two summers, Timm has been involved in a Community Leadership Program through the West De Pere School District. Activities of the program include doing yard work for the elderly, preparing meals for a homeless shelter, working at a food pantry, washing fire trucks, making blankets for a domestic violence center and visiting an assisted living facility and playing games with its tenants.

Timm has also rung bells for the Salvation Army during the holiday season and assisted on the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive.

In 2006, Timm received the Officer Bob Award. The annual award recognizes an elite group of youths in the Green Bay area who overcome the challenges of today by displaying respect for others and authority, responsibility, compassion and empathy for others, self-discipline, good citizenship, and honesty along with displaying courage and perseverance.

Timm is a two-time Hershey’s Wisconsin Track and Field champion in the softball throw, winning the 11-12 year-old division in 2009 and the 13-14 year-old division in 2010. Last August, Timm placed fourth in the softball throw (11-12 year-old division) at the Hershey’s North America Track and Field Games in Hershey, Pa.

Timm has helped Fox River Rush to a 44-11 record this season, including a 7-3 mark and a seventh-place finish at the recently concluded NSA Class B North Region World Series. Fox River Rush also captured a first-place finish at the Wisconsin Amateur Softball Association Class B Tournament held July 9-11 in Eau Claire. Timm has compiled a .409 (61-149) batting average this season with 17 doubles, four triples and 58 runs batted in.

U10 Fox River Rush Enjoys Another Successful Season

The Fox River Rush U10 girls softball team completed the 2010 season with a 24-10 record.

Highlighting the squad's five tournament appearances were second-place efforts at the Wisconsin National Softball Association Class A/B Tournament held June 19-20 in Middleton and the Wisconsin Amateur Softball Association of America Class B Tournament held July 9-11 in Eau Claire.

Fox River Rush also placed second at the John Kloehn Greater Raider Open held June 5-6 in Oshkosh and the Appleton Rockers Kick-Off Classic held June 12-13 in Appleton.

The team concluded its season with a third-place finish at the Greenville Tournament held July 15-18 in Greenville.

Fox River Rush lost its 10 games to just three opponents - Oshkosh Raiders Black, Wisconsin Lightning Black and The Queen of Diamonds.

U12 Fox River Rush Captures ASA State Title

Kaylee Francois drove in Jennifer Timm with a one-out, ground ball in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Fox River Rush U12 girls softball team defeated Oshkosh Raiders Black, 3-2, in the championship game of the Wisconsin Amateur Softball Association of America Class B Tournament held July 9-11 in Eau Claire. Fox River Rush won all seven of its games in the 19-team tournament to improve its record to 33-8 on the season.

Fox River Rush advanced to the title game with victories of 12-4 over Waukesha Blazers White, 8-0 over Eau Claire Fury, 13-2 over Seymour Flames, 7-1 over De Pere Fire East, 7-5 (8 innings) over Kaukauna Ghosts and 3-0 over Oshkosh Raiders Black.

Sage Tanck led Fox River Rush at the plate by hitting .524 (11-21) with one double and four runs batted in. Amber Van Duyse hit .381 (8-21) with one run batted in, Kennedy Taylor .364 (8-22) with six runs batted in, Kaylen Krueger .360 (9-25) with five runs batted in and Timm .333 (7-21) with six doubles and six runs batted in. Fox River Rush hit .330 (61-185) for the tournament and struck out a total of just 14 times.

Van Duyse and Tia Danforth combined to pitch all 47 innings for the Fox River Rush. Van Duyse posted a 5-0 record and a 0.21 earned run average in 33 innings of work. She struck out 23 batters and allowed just 11 hits and one earned run. Danforth tallied a 2-0 record and a 2.00 earned run average in 14 innings of duty. She struck out 12 batters, yielded 10 hits and allowed only four earned runs.

U12 Fox River Rush Crowned Battle Of The Borders Champion

The Fox River Rush U12 girls softball team went undefeated in six games to win the 12-team Battle of the Borders Tournament held June 25-27 in Salem. Fox River Rush (26-8) posted a 12-4 victory over Wisconsin Lightning Black in the championship game.

Fox River Rush advanced to the title contest with victories of 10-0 over Lakeland Legends (Ill.), 14-3 over Des Plaines Dynamo (Ill.), 8-0 over McHenry Warriors (Ill.), 5-1 over Bordertown Bandits (Ill.) and 5-4 over Wisconsin Lightning Black.

Kaylen Krueger hit .765 (13-17) with two triples, 12 runs scored and seven runs batted in during the tournament. Tia Danforth hit .533 (8-15) with five runs batted in and Jennifer Timm .500 (8-16) with three runs batted in.

Danforth and Amber Van Duyse both earned three pitching victories, with Van Duyse also recording two saves. Danforth struck out 15 batters and allowed just eight hits in 10 innings pitched, while Van Duyse struck out 27 batters and yielded just eight hits in 19 innings pitched.
